Shall We Begin???

A few short notes regarding this site:

* A new lesson plan will be added daily…

* The following lesson plans (lp's) were written with at-home mothers in mind, who may be looking for ways to enhance their learning time with their children.
They may also be used for small organized preschool groups

* LP’s are generally designed for ages 3 ½ - 5, and may need to be adjusted to fit the needs and learning levels of your children.

* Each lp includes at least: A question, letter, and number of the day; Stories, Activities and Art, as well as Snack and Service ideas that correspond with the topic of the lesson. American Sign Language is incorporated into each lesson, but may be substituted with any language of your choice.

* Note the ‘ASL Dictionary,’ as well as the Map links on the right of the screen for use as references while preparing your lesson.

GLOSSARY

Speaker Bear: A stuffed animal or other item to pass around to the children when you want them to answer a question. The rule is that whoever is holding the bear is the only person who can speak. The rest must listen.

Writing Notebooks: Can be a variety of things:
A store bought writing tablet specifically designed for practicing letters (suggested)
A stack of white paper, whole-punched and put into a 3 ring binder, or
A simple spiral notebook.
Each child should have their own that they will use every day.

Sticker Basket: Just like it sounds, a basket full of stickers (preferably stickers that have been divided so that the children can choose one sticker at a time) This will be used often for the number of the day.

Sticker Chart: A place to put the stickers each day when doing the 'number of the day.'
This may be a piece of posterboard, a large piece of paper or a piece of cardboard cut from a box. Draw an image on it such as a balloon, bubblegum machine, rainbow, etc. When the image is filled with stickers this means it's time to cash in for a reward (Party day, ice cream treat, a toy, etc.)

Other notes:
The Dollar store is the BEST THING EVER when it comes to preschool. You’ll find charts, flash cards, maps, stickers, workbooks, games, decorations, and anything else you could ever want!!

When you are finished with a cereal box, don’t throw it away! Cut the flat pieces of cardboard out to use for various activities you’ll find in the lp’s. I like to use cardboard a lot.

You can make preschool as simple or as complex as you want. Your children will love it either way.

It’s definitely helpful to read the lp’s ahead of time so that you’re able to acquire the books and materials you’ll need.

And that, folks, is all I’ve got.
ENJOY!
