Every Day a Special Day...

Here are a few kid-tested and approved activities we've tried in our home.
Hope you can put some of them to use!

Finger paint with Chocolate pudding
Practice trick or treating at home. Have children dress up and knock on various doors in the house. Meet them at each room with a few pieces of candy.

Have an olympic tournament with nose ball, garbage sack races, marshmallow toss and more.
Have kids come up with their own idea for an event.
Build a luxurious dollhouse entirely out of cereal boxes!
Don't have dolls? Build a Doghouse instead.
Practice your painting skills on each other's faces.
Video tape them hosting a cooking show. Be sure to have them explain what they're doing throughout the demonstration.

Fall is a great time to go apple picking!
So Patriotic! You can use this activity for any of the many patriotic holidays throughout the year
Help kids "handpaint" wearable gifts for each other! So fashionable.
Experiment with dipping chocolate! Let little ones vote for their favorite combos.
Visit a nearby donut shop and watch how the donuts are made. (Of course you'll have to try one afterward)
Make green chocolate chip pancakes for St. Patty's Day! Any color will do for any holiday.
Take a field trip to a nearby farm. If possible allow children to feed the horses.
Take your family on a ride through the carwash. Always an exciting experience the first time through.
Visit the dentist
Make your own fortune cookies... which means you get to decide your own fortune :)
Make a guitar out of a cereal box and a wrapping paper tube, and put on a concert in your living room
Paint a rock and call it a treasure
Make matching friendship bracelets

Make "gingerbread" house out of whatever you have in your cupboards at the time. Leave the designing up to the kiddos.
Take a trip to the Drive-In movie... and make it a campout!

Have a "Girls Day" and/or "Boys Day" and spend the day doing whatever they want
Have a "Camp IN" for a night.

Throw a popsicle party and invite friends and neighbors. Have kids come up with a few short out door games to play with their guests.
Throw a surprise birthday party for one of their favorite stuffed animals... real cake and all!

Share the legendary story of "Stone Soup." Allow them to play the parts of the village people and gather the ingredients to add to the pot.
Best part about this one is that it involves taste testing!

Give them free reign of the kitchen and let them put together their very own culinary masterpiece!
Parent will, of course, have to judge whether or not it is actually edible.
Create your own homemade Pinata. As you can see, just about anything will work.

Go fishing in your own living room...but not for fish, for candy!!

If you have a laptop or portable dvd player, pop up some popcorn and have
a movie night in the back of your vehicle.

Save the boxes from your shopping trip and turn them into cars.
Park them in front of your very own drive-in movie.

Invite a neighbor over for treats and interview her about some of her favorites.
